Drop of the liquid from vascular system of recently pruned grapevine cane, Located at the NMSU Los Lunas ASC in the middle Rio Grande Valley. This phenomenon is referred to as "bleeding" and is due to hydrodrastic pressure within the vine, bringing soil water into the roots and up into the vine to all buds about to break dormancy and grow new, green tissue.
