Pruning Weight Collection in the Gewurztraminer and Refosco Rootstock Trial

Written by Gill

I received great help Wednesday, March 27 in collecting pruning weights and recording number of canes per vine from personnel at the Farmington ASC. The on-going rootstock trial was planted at the Farmington ASC in 2008 by Dr. Kevin Lombard. The purpose of the trial is to determine which of nine rootstocks will impart optimum fruit yield and quality from two wine grape varieties: Refosco, a red variety typically grown in northern Italy, and the white variety, Gewürztraminer, widely grown in the Alsace region that straddles the border between Germany and France.
